St. Pierre and Alix Life Skills Training College, located in Naddangira Parish, Wakiso District, Uganda, is a life-transforming educational institution founded on compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to youth empowerment. Established through the collaborative efforts of the Sisters of the Congregation of Our Lady – Canonesses of St. Augustine and the passionate Old Girls of Trinity College Nabbingo, the institute was born out of a vision to provide life skills and vocational training to undeserved communities—especially girls, school dropouts, and underemployed youth.
The idea to establish the institute began in 2007 when Mrs. Immaculate Mubiru, a former student of Trinity College Nabbingo, proposed that the Sisters return to Uganda to continue their invaluable educational work. This vision led to the founding of a Life Skills Training College with the support of Sr. Martina A. Boylan and other volunteers. After several years of fundraising, renovations, and mobilization, St. Pierre and Alix officially opened its doors to students, offering practical training tailored for self-sufficiency.
Our mission is to help individuals grow to their full potential—spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically—through quality vocational education. Our vision is to raise a generation of skilled, confident, and independent individuals who are job creators, not just job seekers.
Today, despite challenges, the institute continues to thrive with dedicated staff, community support, and a hands-on curriculum that reflects real-world skills. Our achievements include building a new classroom block, equipping a modern catering kitchen, establishing an all-purpose hall, and developing agricultural and piggery demonstration projects. These initiatives are not just for academic use, but also serve as income-generating projects that make the institute more sustainable.
