Opening Doors to Practical Skills and Lifelong Success
At St. Pierre and Alix Vocational Institute – Naddangira, our mission is to make quality vocational and life skills training accessible to all individuals—regardless of their academic background, age, or economic status. We recognize that not every learner follows a traditional education path, and that’s why our entry requirements are designed to be inclusive, flexible, and focused on potential rather than past performance.
If you’re ready to gain a practical skill, change your life, or start a small business, our doors are open to you.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome students from all walks of life. Our programs are open to:
- Primary Seven (P.7) Leavers
Learners who have completed primary school and want to pursue vocational skills instead of the traditional secondary route. - Senior Four (S.4) and Senior Six (S.6) Leavers
Those who have finished O-Level or A-Level and are looking for practical skills to enter the workforce quickly or start a business. - Adult Learners and Dropouts
Whether you are a working adult seeking to change careers or someone who did not complete formal education, you can still enroll. - Youth from rural or urban areas
We encourage applications from all districts, especially Wakiso and neighboring regions, but learners from other parts of Uganda are welcome. - Girls and young women
While we are a co-educational institution, we maintain a strong focus on empowering girls and women through skills-based learning.
General Entry Requirements
To enroll in any of our vocational training programs, you must:
- Have a basic level of literacy and numeracy
You should be able to read, write, and do simple calculations. For technical courses, this is essential for safety and accuracy. - Be at least 14 years old

Vocational training requires discipline and hands-on involvement. We look for learners with a serious interest in self-improvement. - Attend a short admissions interview/orientation
During your visit, our admissions team will assess your course interest, readiness, and help you select a suitable program. - Provide basic documentation:
One passport-size photograph
National ID
Copy of your most recent school report or academic document (if available)
National ID or student ID (or guardian’s ID if underage)
Course-Specific Recommendations
While most of our programs are open to all qualified applicants, some courses may have additional recommendations:
- Hairdressing & Cosmetology: A keen interest in beauty, grooming, or customer service is encouraged.
- Tailoring & Fashion Design: Ability to work with detail and patience is important.
- Baking & Catering: Basic hygiene practices and a passion for food service are a plus.
- Plumbing, Carpentry, or Bricklaying: Physical fitness and basic math skills help learners excel in technical areas.
- Computer Applications or Business Skills: Comfort using basic English and a willingness to learn technology are useful.
Fees and Financial Considerations
We strive to keep our tuition affordable. Fees vary depending on the course but are generally paid per term. We also offer:
- Flexible payment options: Pay in installments if needed.
Income-generating activities: Students can participate in production units (tailoring, farming, catering) to reduce financial burden.
Support for low-income learners: While we currently do not offer full scholarships, our community regularly donates learning materials and subsidizes activities through fundraising.
Intakes and Enrollment Periods
We admit students three times a year:
- January Intake
- May Intake
- September Intake
We advise students to apply at least one month before the term begins to secure placement, especially for popular programs such as Tailoring or Catering.
